Whiffens Avenue
At Whiffens Avenue, the soft landscaping scheme was designed to enrich the site with
planting that complements its urban setting while strengthening local biodiversity.
Selected existing trees were retained to provide maturity and structure, while new tree
planting and ornamental shrubs introduced variety, colour, and seasonal interest.
Wildflower areas and amenity planting helped soften the character of the redeveloped
space, creating a greener, more welcoming environment.
Ecological features were integrated directly into the landscape to support wildlife. Bird
and bat boxes, sparrow terraces, and insect hotels were incorporated alongside
biodiverse planting, encouraging habitats to flourish within the site. Together, these
measures ensure the soft landscaping not only enhances the visual appeal of the public
realm but also makes a lasting contribution to the area’s environmental resilience and
biodiversity.
